If you’re looking for a tutor for yourself or your children, check out Preply.com. Simply put, Preply connects learners with tutors for one-on-one sessions.
Many tutoring services charge hundreds to even thousands of dollars for private tutoring and test preparation. Preply tutors set their own prices and charge anywhere from $7 an hour to $70 an hour for preparatory packages each ranging from 5 to 20 hours in total length.
Available tutors include Ivy League and Air Force Academy graduates, and many also have years of formal teaching experience. When viewing a tutor’s profile, you can see things like their time zone, work experience, schedule (availability), and education. They’ll even state their teaching philosophy and a brief bio. Some tutors even display their own test scores, which is useful if you’re interested in test prep classes. Many tutors on Preply are labeled as verified tutors. This means they have been verified by Preply as having tutoring experience or teaching credentials.
After you’ve received tutoring sessions from any Preply tutor, you can leave a review for them, letting others know what you thought of the tutor and their sessions.
Signing up for the site is easy. You can even log in through your Facebook account, if you prefer. Click “Find a Tutor;” then browse through all the tutors or filter the search results. You can search for a package by price per hour, pack size (how many hours), and by subject. SAT prep, ACT prep, English, math, and science are just a few of the subjects available for tutoring. Currently, there are almost 100 different prep packages offered on PrePly.  You can even get a free one-hour tutoring session to see how you like it!
Tutors use Skype, IDroo Whiteboard for Skype, or similar interactive software to facilitate the tutoring session. This allows you to connect with the tutor you want, no matter the distance.
Preply works through an auction system like eBay. You have the option to Buy Now, but you can always enter in your maximum bid amount and place a bid. Payment is expected within 48 hours after the auction. You can pay using a credit card or debit card through PayPal. Preply utilizes buyer protection. Their money back guarantee means any time during your tutoring, you can contact Preply, and they’ll refund you for your unused tutoring hours.

That’s an interesting way to get tutoring.
Sounds excellent for parents with children of school age, it should help out both parents and the kids.
Thanks for the review – I just went over to check it out! Really easy to navigate and I love that they utilize Skype! They even have principals and investment bankers on there 🙂 Very cool!
Thanks so much for this information. I keep on thinking I need to get a tutor for one of my kids who needs help in geometry.
Nice service actually, have been using it, very similar to https://homework-lab.com/
Preply is great if you’re a tutor as well. I haven’t done much tutoring through them, but the little that I have was nothing other than a great experience. I think it’s definitely a great place to start and build experience if you’re just starting out with tutoring.
