MissesDressy: Affordable Designer Couture Gowns and Dresses

8/01/13 UPDATE- MissesDressy has asked me to remove all links, even to the photos stored on my account, not theirs. I have complied, as you can see.

*Sponsored Post* Have you ever spent hours or even days browsing multiple stores trying to locate a formal dress for a military ball, prom, wedding or other formal event? I have. It’s always been a painful experience for me. There’s never a great selection, and I always have the worry that someone else will show up to the event in the same dress! MissesDressy.com has a phenomenal selection of gowns for those special moments.

The Web site has a comprehensive selection, but you can refine your search by designer, category, or price. If you’re planning a wedding, check out the mother of the bride, bridesmaids, flower girl dresses, and bridal gowns. There’s even a category for wedding guest dresses! You can also find modest dresses (it’s a category), which I really liked to see. Not everyone wants to have their goods on display. 🙂 Day dresses, Jovani prom dresses, and little black dresses are just a few of the other types available.

I was drooling while scrolling through dress photos on this site. They have a “Military Ball Dresses” category, and I’m looking forward to losing the rest of this baby weight and wearing one of these gorgeous dresses to the next Navy ball! Depending on the designer, many of the dresses are available in plus sizes, so there are options for all shapes and sizes.

Since size measurements vary by designer, MissesDressy recommends you measure yourself and carefully match your measurements to the sizing chart for the dress you choose. On the site you can find a video tutorial showing you exactly how to properly take measurements.

MissesDressy also sells accessories like handbags, shoes, and lingerie. Prices are competitive for all their products. Their lowest price guarantee means if you find your identical dress (same size and color) at a lower price, MissesDressy will not only match the price but discount your dress by six percent. Some restrictions apply; see Web site for details.

Shipping is free within the U.S. Depending on your dress, express shipping may be available. International shipping is available.

Live chat is available in case you have any questions.

I took screenshots of a few of my favorite dresses. I like bright colors, obviously!

The MissesDressy brick and mortar store was launched in 2008 and due to a growing demand, the online site opened in 2010. You can visit their showroom in Long Island City, NY.

Preply: Connecting learners with tutors

If you’re looking for a tutor for yourself or your children, check out Preply.com. Simply put, Preply connects learners with tutors for one-on-one sessions.

Many tutoring services charge hundreds to even thousands of dollars for private tutoring and test preparation. Preply tutors set their own prices and charge anywhere from $7 an hour to $70 an hour for preparatory packages each ranging from 5 to 20 hours in total length.

Available tutors include Ivy League and Air Force Academy graduates, and many also have years of formal teaching experience. When viewing a tutor’s profile, you can see things like their time zone, work experience, schedule (availability), and education. They’ll even state their teaching philosophy and a brief bio. Some tutors even display their own test scores, which is useful if you’re interested in test prep classes. Many tutors on Preply are labeled as verified tutors. This means they have been verified by Preply as having tutoring experience or teaching credentials.

After you’ve received tutoring sessions from any Preply tutor, you can leave a review for them, letting others know what you thought of the tutor and their sessions.

Signing up for the site is easy. You can even log in through your Facebook account, if you prefer. Click “Find a Tutor;” then browse through all the tutors or filter the search results. You can search for a package by price per hour, pack size (how many hours), and by subject. SAT prep, ACT prep, English, math, and science are just a few of the subjects available for tutoring. Currently, there are almost 100 different prep packages offered on PrePly.  You can even get a free one-hour tutoring session to see how you like it!

Tutors use Skype, IDroo Whiteboard for Skype, or similar interactive software to facilitate the tutoring session. This allows you to connect with the tutor you want, no matter the distance.

Preply works through an auction system like eBay. You have the option to Buy Now, but you can always enter in your maximum bid amount and place a bid. Payment is expected within 48 hours after the auction. You can pay using a credit card or debit card through PayPal. Preply utilizes buyer protection. Their money back guarantee means any time during your tutoring, you can contact Preply, and they’ll refund you for your unused tutoring hours.

For more information on Preply, visit them on their Web site. Check them out on Facebook for fun and interesting facts and info!
