Cleava Review

Since I prefer to dress modestly, I was excited to have the chance to review the Cleava! The Cleava is a snap-to-bra mock camisole. It gives the wearer coverage but also the versatility to add or remove at a moment’s notice. The Cleava was invented by a woman for women, and it’s still a woman-run business. I love that!

Since I’m a nursing mother, I’m very, very happy with the Cleava! My friends and my husband can attest to my complaints regarding nursing tops or tops suitable for nursing: it always seems like they’re made for your boobs to hang out. Yes, you want easy access for nursing, but that shouldn’t have to mean looking hoochie! I tried wearing tank tops underneath, but if it was a nursing tank, then I’d have to deal with dropping two cups while holding a squirmy baby. If it was a regular tank, then I’d have to either yank it down under my boob, or pull the entire thing up to my neck.

Enter the Cleava. Now I wear the Cleava with my nursing bra and nursing tops to get coverage. Most importantly, I can nurse my son without having to remove or really mess with the Cleava! Whatever side I’m nursing on, I just slide the strap of the Cleava up above my nursing bra clasp, then let the clasp go and drop my bra cup. Easy peasy! When I’m finished nursing my son, I snap the bra cup back up, and slide the Cleava strap down.

I wish I’d known about the Cleava when I was teaching! Before my son was born, I taught high school English in Florida. I used to wear tank tops underneath whatever shirt I was wearing, just to keep teenage boys from looking down my shirt when I was leaning over their desks (Yes, this happens). Unfortunately, the tank top obviously added an extra layer, and in 80 and 90+ degree weather, an extra clothing layer can equal misery…even in an air conditioned classroom (A/C in public schools is often an iffy thing). The Cleava would’ve given me the coverage I needed with very little extra fabric.

On a side note, wearing a tank top underneath a shirt adds more straps in addition to your bra. That can be really annoying sometimes if they are digging in or sliding off, depending on what you’re doing. I don’t have this problem with the Cleava!

Another way Cleava trumps tank top or camisole, in my opinion: DRESSES. Have you ever tried to wear a tank top under a dress? Maybe you had a good experience, but I rarely did. My tank top usually started to ride up or gather and bunch around my waist, which sends me running for the church bathroom to immodestly lift my dress and yank the tank top down. Again…the Cleava is great for this situation!

The Cleava is available in assorted styles and colors and is one size fits most. In my photos, I’m wearing the Original Classic style in White that retails for $19.95. The holidays are just around the corner, and the Cleava would make a great gift for any reason (or season).

5. I recently won two giveaways that I entered right before they ended. I found both of them through the site “Tight Wad in Utah.” This site lists daily low-entry giveaways. To be honest, some of the giveaways they list, I’m not necessarily interested in, but they always have a good variety, and I always find a few giveaways to enter. You can also submit a low-entry giveaway to be listed.

6. If you love to read, I recommend following the blog “Legacy of a Writer.” I’m really enjoying the book reviews on this site. She often interviews authors and holds book giveaways, as well.

This giveaway ends in 5 days, so enter soon! Chris will also be sponsoring a prize (a diaper, of course!) for the Hoppin’ Halloween Giveway Hop on this blog Oct. 25-31.

8. Are you familiar with Mamma necklaces? The silicone kind that mothers of nursing and teething babies wear, and are safe for the babies to chew on? There’s a co-op currently taking orders for them at a much reduced price. If you’re interested, send me a message on my “Contact Me” page.

9. On Monday, I’ll be posting a review and giveaway for the Cleava, a mock camisole. It’s a very nifty clothing accessory for working women, nursing moms, female high school teachers (I’ll explain this one in my review), or any woman really who wants to avoid hoochie in her wardrobe!

I think that’s it for today! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

WAHMs, reviews, giveaways, my coffee addiction, nursing woes, and I love this weather

This week you’ll see the first review in a series of diaper-making WAHMs (working-at-home-moms). The reviews will build up to the Hoppin’ Halloween Giveaway Blog Hop. During the blog hop, you’ll have an opportunity to win cloth diapers from the featured WAHMs! Every week I plan to feature a different WAHM and her cloth diapers, so stay tuned! I’m excited! Are you?!

I’m sitting here on the couch, next to the open balcony. Baby’s napping in his swing. It’s a lovely day outside. When the weather is cool, not cold, cool…I think my mood improves. During the hot of the summer, I rarely like to leave air conditioning. But this time of year…. the leaves are starting to turn yellow and orange, and I just feel happier. I love it.

My son eats every 2 hours around the clock. When he was a newborn, it was really miserable. He’d fall asleep, of course, on and off, and he also used me as a pacifier. This meant I was always, always nursing him. As he got older, he’d eat in 10 minutes or less, so it wasn’t as big of a deal. But lately, he thinks that around 90 minutes, he should be fed. Yeah, I’m not cool with that. He’s reached the 80th percentile, and breastfeeding is definitely well-established, so I think it’s safe to move him to a schedule that I want. Starting this morning, I’m nursing him every 2 hours and 15 minutes. After he seems used to that, I’ll move him to every 2 hours and 30 minutes. I’d like to get him to nurse every 3 hours. Of course, he’ll be starting solids in about 6 or 7 weeks, so that should cut down on the nursing to. I’ve heard moms talk about what a special bonding time nursing is for them. Honestly, for me it’s a chore, and I think if I didn’t have to stop what I was doing so often to nurse him…I think I’d find it a little more special than I currently do.

My parents are coming to visit us for a few days next week, and I’m excited. It doesn’t matter how old you are…mommy and daddy are still mommy and daddy, right? 🙂 The forecast for next week is still in the low 70s, so the weather should be perfect for us to get out and about. Unfortunately, hubby still has to work.

So we bought a Keurig yesterday! As a caffeine addict, I’ve been wanting one for a while. They had a sale at the NEX that was better than any we’ve seen in store or online, so we bought one of the mini Keurigs. I had my daily iced coffee, using my Keurig. 🙂 As a matter of fact, I think I’ll go have another one…
