Making friends with my seam ripper

Today I really cracked down on my table-cloth/place mat sewing project. It was going well until I sewed the wrong sides together on place mats. Twice! I did this twice! It took me about 20 minutes each time to rip the seams out. Oh well…

Then I decided to start sewing project #2: turning a prefold diaper into a fitted diaper. I sewed the elastic in, and let’s just say that was also a fail. More time with my handy dandy seam ripper tool.

Fail Funny Pictures | Friendster Layouts What did I do successfully today? Uhm…I didn’t burn dinner. We had tuna melts, so it definitely wasn’t rocket science.

Oh! I did find out that I won a giveaway on another blog! So you see! It’s not impossible to win! I’m not a loser after all, hahah!

Also, I think one of the workers at the gym thinks I’m hitting on him. Did you ever accidentally make eye contact with someone too many times? Yup, that’s me. So awkward. You know, you’re walking by the desk, and you think the workers said something to you, so you look at them, only they’re not looking at you, but then they sense you’re looking at them, and they look at you looking at them, and it’s just really awkward? Yup, that’s me.

All right, well, I’m working on a few different blog posts at once, but none of them are ready to post tonight, so I’m keeping this short and sweet.

Don’t forget to enter the Hidden Treasure Candle giveaway and the Great Soft Bums giveaway. In just seven days, the Green Family giveaway blog hop starts. I’m super excited about that!

My belly makes me sad.

Losing the extra pregnancy pounds is turning out to not be an easy thing for me. Next time I’m expecting, I don’t care how hungry I am…I’m sticking to a very controlled diet! Working out while pregnant would probably be a good thing too. I’ll admit that I wasn’t nearly as active as I should’ve been. I was working full time, and my husband was deployed. All I did was work until about dinner time, go home, eat, and then vegetate until bed time. I know ultimately it’s just an excuse, but I had no motivation to go work out. Also, there really was no good place to work out in the small town I was living in at the time. I’m still exclusively breastfeeding my son, and I’m hoping once he starts solids in a couple of months and I’m nursing less, that I’ll start to lose weight more quickly.

I joined a gym a couple of weeks ago, and I’ve been going regularly. But days like today, I haven’t been particularly motivated. My husband was taking a computer course at work the last couple of days, and was able to leave work very early today. Since he was home for lunch, I made pasta. With all those carbs in my stomach, I just felt gross today. I made myself go to the gym, but all I wanted to do is eat a pint of ice cream. I know that’s completely counterproductive, but that’s the way my mind works. I guess I eat when I’m unhappy.

I’m sure we all wish this, but wouldn’t it be nice if we saw results from working out in just a couple of days? It would be so motivating! The difficult part is expending the effort, and feeling like there are no results. I know, I know…I just have to keep at it. It will pay off eventually, right? :/

Hubby doesn’t want me to buy any more cloth diapers, but I’m addicted. They’re so cute! So the compromise is that I’ll make my own. How hard can it be? Don’t answer that. I was already planning on turning some prefolds into fitted diapers, but now I’m going to try all types. If I already blogged about this, I apologize. I’m so scatterbrained now days. I also find another gray hair every couple of days. I never had them before I became a mom. So it’s true that kids do give you gray hair!!!!

Anyway, don’t forget about the current Hidden Treasure Candle and Softbums giveaway going on right now! You can enter right here on my blog. The Green Family Giveaway is coming up very soon along with my Glow Bug diaper review.

I’m currently working on a review of the Bumkins one size All-In-One cloth diaper, and that should be up tomorrow.

I hope you’re having a great night! If you haven’t already connected with me on Facebook, please consider “liking” my page. Thanks!

CLOSED The Green Family Giveaway Hop Sept. 15-30

I’ll be participating in the Green Family Giveaway Hop from Sept. 15-30! Nearly 50 blogs have teamed up together, and each blog will hold a giveaway and offer a different “green” or family-friendly prize worth at least $20. The grand prize for this event will be given away on Formula Mom’s blog and is provided by Glow Bug Cloth Diapers. One lucky reader will win a full stash of 24 Glow Bug Cloth Diapers in the new prints that Glow Bug has just released! That’s a $300 value!

For the giveaway held on this blog, I’m teaming up with Amy and Michelle from The Knotted Pineapple and Gina from Gina Jordan’s Shop to bring you beautiful handmade items!

The Knotted Pineapple is an Etsy shop offering hip and trendy crotched pieces to suit the modern child (or adult)! Amy and Michelle will be giving away any custom item from their shop. Visit their store to check out their lovely handmade beanies, earflap hats, and headbands, valued at $16-28!

Keeping with our theme of being “green,” Gina Jordan’s Shop will be giving away 30 paperless towels, an eco-friendly alternative to paper towels! That’s a $25 value! Paperless towels are an easy way to eliminate trash and and reduce your impact on the environment.

From Gina:

These paper-less towels are super absorbent, premium quality, 100% birds eye cotton and are serged around the edges for a clean finish. You can expect these work-horses to last for a very long time. I have used mine for about 2 years, and have washed them about 200 times each……still going strong! Use them to mop up any spill, dry your hands, or for any typical use of paper towels. I throw mine in the washer and dryer with any and all loads of laundry (they take up very little space), because no special care is required.

This giveaway begins Sept. 15, so mark it down on your calendar!
