Review: Nuby Sound Bite

Nuby Mommy BloggerAs an official Nuby Mommy Blogger, I have another fun Nuby product to share with you!

About the Product:

Nuby Sound Bite weaning spoons make feeding more enjoyable for babies and their parents. The spoons are flexible and soft at the end to be gentle on sore baby gums. A set of two weaning spoons comes with one sound bite- either a train, a car, or an airplane that makes the appropriate noise at the press of a button. The sound bite slides off the spoons easily, making dishwashing a breeze.

Baby J with his Nuby Sound Bite

Our Experiences:

The first thing I noticed was that the spoon handles are a little wider than the other brands of baby spoons we own. I actually liked this, and felt I had a more stable grip on the spoon. The stability is important when Baby J is trying to wrestle the spoon or knock it out of my hand. How the wideness will affect my son when he starts feeding himself, I don’t know. I’m holding off on that until his motor skills have developed more- I don’t need extra messes to clean up right now!

The bowl part of the spoon is wider and deeper than other brands I’ve tried. This is also something I now prefer. My son is more than capable of larger bites, and the spoon gives him that. With or without the train, I’m finding myself reaching for these spoons more often than my others, because of the fit.

I find the spoons easy to clean; I just slide the train off and pop the spoon in the dishwasher. Baby J is fascinated by the train, and I think it’s a vast improvement on the plane and train sounds my daddy used to make while feeding us kids!

Watch the video below to hear and see the Sound Bite in action. Baby J wasn’t thrilled with the purple surprise I was feeding him, but he loves the train! Also, I’m not usually that messy when feeding him, but I’m not coordinated enough to feed him cleanly and operate my cellphone video camera!

Where and what to buy:

You can find the Sound Bite Weaning Spoons at Best Baby Gear. They’re on sale right now!

Review: Tub Time Turtle by Nuby

As a Nuby Mommy Blogger, I’ve received several complimentary Nuby products to test and share my results with you. It took me a while at first to choose which one I wanted to talk about today. But yesterday my son was having so much fun in the tub with his turtle, that I knew that’s the one I’d talk about next!

Nuby has unveiled their awesome new bath toy product line at Buy Buy Baby- look for them in a store near you!

Nuby Tub Time Turtle

About the Toy:

Babies can easily reach Nuby’s new Tub Time Turtle when bathing, since it floats on top of the bath water. When lifted, the Tub Time Turtle creates a fun waterfall for baby to interact with. It’s also BPA-free, so need to worry if your little budding teether wants to chew on it!

Our Experiences:

The first time I gave it to Baby J, he immediately started chewing on it. Since then, he usually grabs it and sort of swishes it around in the water or bangs the water with it. Of course, he splashes all over the place, but he’s having a blast!

The toy’s packaging says 9 months and up. Baby J is 10 months, and he hasn’t figured out how to do the waterfall yet, but he likes playing with the water when I lift the turtle up. He’s good at mimicking though, so I think after seeing me do it a few bath times, he’ll start lifting it up as well to make the waterfall. His coordination will still probably need work. I’ll update this post in a couple of months and let you know how he’s doing with it!

It's Baby J's favorite toy!

I really like this adorable toy. It seems well constructed and sturdy, yet flexible. The colors are bright and the eyeballs are stinkin’ cute. I’m excited to see more of the new Nuby bath line in the future!

Review: The Nibbler by Nuby

Proud member of:Welcome to my first review as a Nûby Mommy Blogger! As a member of their blogging program, I have the very great fortune to try out and review awesome Nûby products!

The Nûby brand has a slew of solid feeding items, but Baby J’s current favorite is definitely the Nibbler. He loves the freedom of being able to feed himself, and I love that he can do it safely.

The Nuby Nibbler

If your child is ready for solids, the Nûby Nibbler is a safe, BPA-free way to eat many of them. Babies can use the Nibbler to eat whole foods without choking. The Nibbler has a squeeze and twist locking system that’s adult-friendly but keeps kids from opening it inadvertently (or on purpose!). The included cap makes sure the Nibbler stays clean during travel and storage.

Depending on the age of your child, suggested whole foods include: frozen fruits, fresh fruits, ice chips, veggies, and more.

Our experiences:

The first time my son used this, we put a frozen strawberry in it. He was not a fan, but my son’s never liked cold things, even when teething. I tried it again some days later with a big piece of banana- a food he loves. He immediately started biting the handle, not the mesh area with the banana. I actually took the Nibbler from him and started gnawing on the end myself, and he finally “got it.” From that point on, he went to town! The packaging says 10 months and up, but Baby J easily could have been using the Nibbler by seven months.

Here’s Baby J happily stuffing his mouth with banana:

Foods that we’ve discovered work well with our Nibbler: oranges, bananas, roasted (or boiled) carrots, and baked potato.

Cleaning Tips- I’d recommend rinsing the Nibbler immediately after use before any food becomes crusted and washing as soon as possible. At the very least, drop the mesh into a cup of soapy water and let it soak.

When it’s contained banana, I do both, because I’ve found that banana is more difficult to clean off than other veggies and fruit. I rinse the mesh inside out and use my finger to knock banana residue off the Nibbler. Then I soak it until it’s time to run the dishwasher. Right before I put it in, I rinse it again -both sides- and use my finger to knock any remaining banana bits off. I haven’t tried washing the Nibbler by hand, but when I use the dishwasher, I turn the mesh upside down over one of the prongs. If you’re worried about it flying off the prong during the wash, place a shallow dish (I use a baby bowl) over top to keep it on the prong.

Where and what to buy:

The Nûby Nibbler is sold as a single Nibbler or in packs of 2 or 3, depending on the retailer. Also, the one I reviewed has a ring handle, but there is a straight handle Nibbler available as well. Replacement mesh is also sold.

The Nibbler is available at these retailers:
