Review: Nuby natural toothpaste and brush

I’m in the process of going through old blog post drafts that I never finished writing, and I found this one that I meant to post almost 3 years ago!

Well, this post is a looooong time in coming. This summer (and now fall) has been crammed full for us with Hubby coming home, our move, and my new job, and I have just been too busy to blog! Little J has actually been using the toothpaste for months.

This is probably going to be my last Nuby post, as well. :/ We’ve loved the products we’ve received and that we’ve bought ourselves in store (love, love, love all their teethers), but Little J is getting too big for most of their products.

This year Nuby rolled out their all-natural Toddler Training Toothpaste and toothbrush. The toothpaste is fluoride-free and non-toxic; it’s safe if your little one accidentally swallows a bit. It took Little J a while to understand he’s supposed to spit the paste out completely, so it’s good that it’s safe!

I’m probably not taking Little J to the dentist until he’s at least 3, but in the meantime I want him to develop good dental habits. As part of his bedtime routine, we always brush his teeth. It definitely helps reduce plaque, and it freshens his breath. It has a Tutti Frutti flavor that he really likes; I have to monitor him VERY carefully, or he will use too much!

I think this is a great starter toothpaste, and you can buy this training toothpaste with the included toothbrush at stores like Toys”R”Us, CVS Pharmacy, and Kmart.

I have another fun Nûby product to share with you today! Nûby sent us the new No-Spill Insulated Cool Sipper to review. It’s the newest sippy cup in our cupboard and our favorite.

First, I love the Clik-It technology, and I’m so glad Nûby came out with a line of Clik-It cups. Just today I handed Baby J a sippy cup (it wasn’t a Nûby cup); he tipped it back to drink and dumped water all over himself, because I didn’t put the lid on properly. Oops. I’m just glad it was water and not milk. With the Clik-It cups this won’t happen. You know if you hear that “click,” the lid is on properly.

The cup is BPA-free and available in several fun colors.

Because this cup is insulated, it also keeps drinks cooler longer than a regular sippy cup without a “sweating” cup that gets all over everything. It’s my favorite cup to toss in the diaper bag. I even chose it as the one cup Baby J and I took with us to Florida to visit Hubby. It’s usually the one we take to church too, so it’ll keep his water cool for several hours while he plays in the nursery.

It’s important to get the spout into the lid properly, or the lid will leak…so watch for that. It’s a soft spout, by the way, unlike some of the other insulated cups I’ve seen. I’m very happy with this cup, and I wish all of Baby J’s cups had the Click-It feature!

Review: Nûby Medi•Nurser

Nûby sent me another fun product to share with you today!

A baby medicine dispenser, the Nûby Medi•Nurser is inexpensive and practical…and it’s something I wish I’d known about when my son was first born. As a breastfeeding mom, I was immediately prescribed a vitamin D supplement to give my son. Also, in the first couple of months, we often gave Baby J gripe water, since the poor little guy had bad gas.

A medicine dropper works, but I sometimes would squirt too much in his mouth for him to swallow. Then he’d end up spitting some of the medicine out, or it would just dribble out the corners of his mouth. It also took a while for him to get used to the taste.

The Medi•Nurser is designed like a tiny bottle with a nipple and measurements posted on the side. It helps medicine bypass most of your baby’s tastebuds and reduces the medicinal smell.

Now that Baby J is a toddler, I find the Medi•Nurser still convenient, for both medicine and vitamins. Baby J just holds the Medi•Nurser by himself and takes his medicine. The indentations on the side make it easy for him to grasp the bottle. He enjoys the independence, I think. 🙂
