It’s definitely Spring here in Virginia, and in honor of the warmer weather, I think it’s time to roll out some more awesome giveaways!  Keep reading for Sam’s RECARO convertible car seat review on Crunchy Livin’ Mama Style. -Elisebet

With the birth of my first son, we purchased an infant seat simply knowing he’d need one for the trip home from the hospital. Past that, the world of convertible car seats was a bit foreign to me. While I didn’t know too much on the wide variety available at the time, I quickly learned not all car seats are equal. This kickstarted my research and passion in learning all I could about car seat safety and sharing with friends and family on ways to travel safely. I was thrilled to join forces with RECARO! With over 100 years of history designing seats, I could not wait to try out their Performance Ride Convertible Car Seat. I received their Performance Ride seat in Vibe at no cost to facilitate my review. RECARO is an international leader in seating safety, design, comfort and style. As a pioneer of child seat side impact technology, RECARO offers the peace of mind that each seat is built with superior side impact protection technology.

As a convertible car seat, the Performance Ride can be used in the rear-facing or the forward facing position when your child outgrows the recommendations for rear-facing use. It fits children 5 to 40 lbs in the rear-facing position & 20-65 lbs in the forward-facing position while also measuring under 49 inches in height. I’m a strong advocate of extending rear-facing so the rear-facing limit up to 40 lbs was especially important to me. To accommodate smaller babies, the Performance Ride also includes a removable infant insert. With a huge history in racing, they have developed their car seats with the specific design to protect a child’s most vulnerable parts in a side impact collision – pelvis, head, neck, face and torso.

With protective and comfortable ‘PUR’ foam in the head restraint, its height can be easily adjusted with their Easy Adjust No Re-thread harness. I absolutely LOVE this feature. I’m constantly checking the height of the straps on my sons, so it’s nice to be able to make adjustments without taking the seat apart. I’m able to get the perfect fit for them simply by turning a dial back or forth till it’s at the correct height. (At or below shoulders for Rear-Facing & at or above for Forward-Facing) The range in harness height allows for a great deal of growth in using the seat, too. The harness straps also feature a safety stripe system, a white strip along the outer edge of the strap, to be sure neither strap is twisted when fastening and padding in the shoulder are for comfort.

Giveaway: Cozywoggle carseat-safe jacket, 11/25-12/9

Welceome to the Cozywoggle giveaway!

Hosted by Miss Frugal Mommy and sponsored by Cozywoggle

About the Cozywoggle

cozywoggle can be worn in 5-point harness car seat“Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for children between ages 2-14, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Part of the problem is that young children are often strapped into their car seats while wearing a heavy coat, with the straps loosened for comfort. In the event of an accident, the coat compresses, leaving the harness loose and increasing the child’s risk for ejection from the car seat and/or the possibility of injuries from the loose belts. Cherlyn Jenkins, mother of two young boys, has developed a solution – the Cozywoggle, an innovative new coat that keeps young children safe in car seats.

When Cherlyn Jenkins learned that young children shouldn’t be placed in car seats while wearing their coats, she had a newborn and a toddler. She needed to find a way to keep her children warm, while also keeping them safe. She couldn’t find any coats or jackets that were proven to be safe in car seats, so she created one herself.

As parents, we excel at safety-proofing our homes, putting up gates on our stairs and latches on our cabinets, but then we inadvertently jeopardize our children’s safety by putting them into their car seats wearing traditional coats. Crash tests conducted at an NHTSA approved lab, MGA Resarch, have demonstrated that wearing the Cozywoggle while riding in a car seat is safer than wearing a traditional coat. In fact, the Cozywoggle was proven to be as safe as riding in a car seat without any coat at all.”

The Cozywoggle:

  • Is the ONLY product that looks and acts as a coat, but is safe to be worn in a car seat.
  • Is made from heavy-duty wind/water resistant polyester, and is lined with cozy fleece.
  • Can be used with any 5-point harness car seat – either forward or rear-facing.
  • Comes in sizes 12 months, 18 months, 2T, 3T, 4, 5 and 6.
