Playdates & Couch Crumbs: Quick Cleaning with BISSELL

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of BISSELL Homecare, Inc. for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

In a perfect world, there would never be crumbs in the living room carpet…but I’m the parent of a toddler. Regulating all food consumption to our tiny urban apartment kitchen just isn’t practical. Our dining area? That’s connected to the living room and carpeted as well. So crumbs in the carpet are inevitable.

Ever hold a playdate in your home? For us they usually end up being impromptu get-togethers when we move from the nearby playground into our home for lunch or shelter from the rain. Everyone always seems to have a good time; we moms chat together, while our little ones get excited over the toys. [Baby J gets bored with his toys if he’s alone, but when his little friends come over, suddenly his toys are fascinating. :)] At some point, the kiddos want snacks, and food always gets dumped on the carpet. Fortunately, we have a vacuum!

BISSELL helps busy parents clean messes as they happen. BISSELL’s PowerGlide vacuum with Lift-off Technology can be used on multiple surfaces, even bare floors, with no loss of suction. This upright, lightweight design allows you to easily and quickly vacuum everything from entire rooms to curtains to stairs. Use the long-stretch hose to clean up those spilled dry cereal pieces in the couch cushions. The multi-level filtration even helps reduce allergens that could bother your little one’s sensitive nose and eyes.

Yes, children are messy, but they’re worth it, of course. I spend most of my day cleaning up after my son, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

The biggest cleaning tip I would share with new or expecting first-time parents is to clean a little as you go. You probably won’t get to everything in one day, but clean as messes happen, then prioritize and schedule the bigger jobs. Kids make messes, but they’re just experimenting and learning. It goes with the territory! Check out these cleaning tips by BISSELL.

2000 Flushes Review

I was sent a packet of “2000 Flushes Blue Plus Bleach” to try out. As a busy mom, anything that makes cleaning easier is a positive. This packet comes with two tablets that you place in your toilet’s water tank. The tablets release into your toilet bowl water and work up to 2,000 flushes, killing 99.9 percent of bacteria in your toilet bowl.

I’ve been using the same tablets of 2000 Flushes for about four weeks. Here’s a photo I took yesterday of my toilet bowl and water. As you can see, the water is still blue, but light:

Blue Water

Not bad for a toilet that hasn’t been scrubbed in a month. There’s a little bit of brown near the drain. Also, the underside of the toilet’s rim has brown spots, but I’m not going to post a photo of that because it’s gross! My belief is that the 2000 Flushes product works to sanitize and clean the areas that stay consistently covered water. Higher up in the bowl -the parts that only get water when you’re flushing- those don’t get cleaned as much by 2000 Flushes. So overall, I found that 2000 Flushes does help, but you can’t completely skip the toilet brush.

Look for 2000 Flushes products at stores like Ace Hardware, Amazon, and Soap.com.

Note: I received a complimentary pack of 2000 Flushes Blue Plus Bleach but was not otherwise compensated for this post.

Review: Utensil Wipes, all-natural cleaning on the go

As a member of the Tomoson community, I received a pack of Utensil Wipes to review.

Utensil Wipes

About:

Michael, the creator of Utensil Wipes, developed them after a bout with illness during a trip overseas. He decided there had to be a “better way” to prevent illness while traveling or participating in outdoor activities.

Unlike many utensil or pacifier wipes on the market, Utensil Wipes do not use alcohol. Although they should never be intentionally ingested, the wipes are non-toxic and uses 4 percent food-grade lemongrass oil as an active ingredient.

My Experiences:

I think these wipes will work great for a picnic with Baby J, but with the crazy, unpredictable weather lately, we haven’t had a chance! I have tried them out with utensils in the kitchen. I like the smell, and they’re simple to use. Just rub the utensil’s surface (the part you put in your mouth) for at least 10 seconds. Then wait until the utensil dries before using it to eat. I’ve also used the wipes to clean utensils that have already been used. When we finally get to picnic, I want to clean off used spoons and forks before placing them back in our picnic bag, so these will work great.

These wipes would work great for deployed troops, college students, airplane travel, and anyone who’s looking for a way to clean food surfaces on the go.

Want to know more? Visit the Utensil Wipes website. Right now you can purchase 12 packs (120 wipes) for $36. Pacifier Wipes will be rolling out in 2014, so look for them in coming months. Check out the Utensil Wipes Facebook page to see how others are using their wipes.

Note: I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers. The opinions above are my own and may differ from yours.
