Review: Yummi Pouch- reusable food pouches for kids

Andy and Katie sent me a 6-pack of their Yummi Pouches to try out and review!

Yummi PouchAbout:

A reusable food container, the new Yummi Pouch is BPA and phthalate free, as well as being freezer and dishwasher safe. They’re also 100% recyclable!

Parents Andy and Katie created Yummi Pouches to help other parents “meet their children’s fundamental need of good nutrition while making the feeding process simple, eco-friendly and cost-effective.”

Each pouch holds 6 oz. of food and is fillable through the top, which seals.  There’s a little fill line on the back of the pouch, so you don’t have to worry about overfilling. There’s also a place to write in the date and contents.

Our Experiences:

These work for more than purées! I’ve used the Yummi Pouch to keep snacks like crackers and dried fruit while on the go. I used a dry erase marker to write the date and contents on the back of a pouch, and it wiped off later fairly easily.

As far as cleaning, I found it works best if you rinse the pouch out as soon as possible after use to facilitate washing. Otherwise, you may have to scrub the inside a little bit with a toothbrush or bottle cleaning brush, depending on the type of food. Another option is to fill it with water and let the water soak any crusties inside. I place the pouch over two prongs on the top dishwasher rack. The prongs are to hold it open during the cycle.

I want to note that after my initial washing, the seal broke on one of the pouches, rendering it unusable. I’ve actually had this happen to me with a different brand of pouch too. I contacted Katie, and she immediately offered to send me a replacement. Yummi Pouch has a 30-day guarantee. For specific guidelines, view their Return Policy.

These pouches work with our Munchkin pouch spoons, but I noticed the spoons Yummi Pouch sells on their site look wider, which I think may work better for feeding Baby J. You don’t need a spoon with these pouches though. In fact, I prefer not to use them…less clean up.

The Scoop:

At $14.99 for a set of 6, the Yummi Pouch is less expensive than other brands. Also sold are dishwasher-safe stickers and labels to decorate and personalize, as well as brushes, drying rack, funnels, and extra caps.

  1. Hi! I just found you because I am looking into buying reusable pouches instead of spending way too much on the store-bought ones. I’ve read your review on the Little Green Pouch as well as this one. Between the two, which do you prefer? Is one easier to fill? To use? To store? How about the eating spout – can your little one use them easily?

    1. Hi Robyn, thanks for commenting! I prefer the Yummi Pouch, because the opening is larger. So yes, the Yummi Pouch is easier to fill then the Little Green Pouch. The Yummi Pouch is also less expensive. As far as using and storing, they’re about the same. The eating spout on both of them is easy to use. My son can hold the pouch on his own, and suck out most of the puree or apple sauce or whatever is in it. I hope that helps!
