Review and Coupon Code: TruBaby Bubbly Baby Body & Hair Wash

Sun Care Bath CareJennifer Adams Bunkers, a mother of six, founded TruKid products when she realized many of the children’s products on the market included chemicals. Jennifer created products that are free of parabens, phthalates, gluten, BPA, petroleum, and any harsh chemicals.

Made by TruKid, the TruBaby line features daily lotion, Bubbly Baby Body & Hair Wash, every day sunscreen, and water & play sunscreen. Like many of their products, the Bubbly Baby Body & Hair Wash also comes in a family size.

Until I tried this body wash, I really hadn’t found anything I wanted to use on Baby J. I’ve been looking for a product that works, contains natural ingredients, and smells great but doesn’t include synthetic fragrances.

According to the TruKid Web site, the Bubbly Baby Body & Hair Wash comprises the following:

Ingredients listPurified water, aloe barbadensis (aloe vera) leaf juice, sodium laurylglucosides hydroxypropyl sulfonate (sugar), sodium cocoyl methyl taurate (coconut), oleyl betaine (palm), decyl glucoside (plant), glycerin (vegetable), glycine soja (soy) protein, citric acid (citrus), soyamidopropalkonium chloride (soy), guar hydroxypropyl trimonium chloride (guar bean), pathenol (pro-vitamin B5), sodium benzoate (salt of benzoic acid), ethylhexylglycerin (vegetable), citrus grandis (grapefruit) peel oil, citrus junos (yuzu), citrus aurantifolia dulcis (sweet orange) oil

By the way, companies are not required by law to tell you what’s in their fragrance. TruKid does. Look at the citrus ingredients up above. Mmmmmm. That’s exactly how this body wash smells. It’s not overpowering at all, either.

Our Experiences:

Hair Care Baby CareI just told you what it smells like (and indicated that I very much like the smell)! The baby wash suds up well on a wash cloth and cleaned Baby J easily (the poop explosion came off, no prob).

TruKid also advertises that this product could double as a bubble bath. It can, but I had to use almost a 1/2 capful to get the tub sudsy. Since the baby wash is $8.99 for 8oz., I don’t think I’d use it as a bubble bath on a regular basis.

One other thing I wanted to note. I’d read a review online where the commenter said that TruKid’s products are not tear-free. TruKid products ARE tear-free. There are four main strategies used to make shampoo tear-free. Click here to read about what makes products tear-free. When I use this baby wash on Baby J’s hair, inevitably, some of the soapy water runs down over his face. He doesn’t cry or look like he’s in any discomfort.

Hero StickI really like this baby wash, and I’ll be purchasing more products from TruKid. They have a natural, soothing balm for skin irritations called the Hero Stick. It looks perfect for spring when the bugs come out!

TruKid for Kids:

The TruKid philosophy is “to create a sustainable future for our kids by teaching them to take care of themselves, each other, and the environment.” To do this, TruKid has created a program for kids that coincides with their products. On their Web site, TruKid has a collection of songs and rhymes that teach children about daily routines like waking up, going to bed, and washing their faces. Audio clips are included, so kids can learn the tunes. There are also coloring pages, checklists, and more…even a “Toxic Bad Guys” list to raise awareness!

As part of a learning system, the TruKid and TruBaby products each have a little symbol and text that teaches kids what the product is for. The hand wash has a hand symbol. The sunscreen has a body symbol, and the Bubbly Baby Body & Hair Wash has a baby symbol with the words “hair & body.”

  1. I am always having a hard time finding natural products that meet my “standards”. I want it to smell nice, and be truly tear free, and be a gentle product that works well, and also does not cost a fortune. It sounds like this is an awesome product that would fit well! Thanks for the honest review of the “bubbles”. I know it will be one product to pass on.
