Review: Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector B.B. Cream (oil free)

As a Bzz Agent, I received a free tube of Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream in Light/Medium to try out. I was not asked to write a blog review, but I like sharing my experiences with others, so here goes…

About:

Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector B.B. Cream (Oil-Free) is available for combination and oily skin in three shades: light/medium, medium/deep, and deep. It’s formulated with mineral pigments, giving a matte finish when used. Garnier claims it won’t cause breakouts or clog pores since it’s non-acnegenic and non-comedogenic. It retails for around $12.

 My Experiences:

Not knowing a great deal about BB creams, I researched them before using this product. Popular in Asia, BB usually stands for beauty balm here in the States, but there are other names. There are also different formulations of BB creams. Some contain whitening products, but more than likely, in the West, the idea is mainly just to combine several steps of your beauty regime into one.

I think when it comes to cosmetics…certain products will work well for some people and for others…they just won’t. I have terrible skin. All the way through high school, my skin was wonderful. I could go to sleep at night with a full face of makeup and never break out. My senior year of college during my teaching internship, my skin went haywire. I think it was stress-related, and it’s never fully recovered since then. I always break out worse around that time of the month, of course. I believe I have hyperpigmentation on my cheeks, although it’s never been diagnosed by a dermatologist. One day, when my son is no longer nursing, I may be able to take some sort of prescription whitening cream and do something about it. I’d even be willing to consider laser treatment, despite the expense. In the meantime, I just use over-the-counter products.

So if there was one thing I could change about myself, it would be the skin on my face. I’m cringing a little as I show these photos to you:

In the second photo above, I’m only wearing the Garnier BB cream, no other foundation, powder, primer, lotion, concealer, etc.

This product doesn’t make me break out any more than usual, so I’m very happy about that! It’s a little messy each time the tube is opened. To me, the consistency is similar to a water-based foundation and definitely not greasy. It doesn’t smell bad either.  As soon as I rub it in, it becomes matte and lasts for most of the day. I’m also glad that it gives me sun protection, at least for a bit. If I were out in the sun all day, I’d touch up with a mineral sunblock.

After about 12 hours, I will be shiny, but trust me- not nearly as shiny as I’d be if I hadn’t used the BB cream at all. I get really oily, especially when running around outside, sweating, etc.!

It does do a good job concealing the discoloration on my cheeks, but if I have any bad break outs, I still need a concealer on those specific spots to take away all the redness. Also, there were a couple of times that I had a really dry patch of skin caused by acne medication. The BB cream didn’t relieve the dry spots; I still had to use moisturizer.

My conclusion: For me, the Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector B.B. Cream (oil free) is not incredible, but a good product, especially for the price. I will be buying another tube when I’ve used this one up.

Have you tried the Garnier BB cream or another brand? How did it work for you?

  1. I have to try this. I was the same way, No acne allllllllll through high school, turned 19 and my skin sucks. Student teaching next spring, so i had better get prepared with BB!!!!
thanks so much this helps alot.

  2. I used to be a Pretty involved Bzz Agent. Loved it. I will have to look into those products more. Yo did a great review 🙂 I don’t think I would’ve been that brave to put my pic up. 😉 I hate having my pic taken! lol

  3. Thank you very much for this excellent review! I was especially grateful for your photos and really appreciate your bravery…it makes all the difference to have a visual perspective. I have used the Garnier acne spot-treatment in light/medium for around the house or times when I don’t want to aggravate my skin with makeup. I find it to be a great cover up. I’ll definitely give the BB cream a try to replace foundation. Thanks again!
