Review: CJ’s BUTTer Lullaby Baby Lotion

Like many new moms, I received several bottles of Johnson & Johnson for baby gifts. Cautioned by my son’s pediatrician, I refrained from using any lotion on his skin until he was about six weeks old. At this point, his newborn flaky skin didn’t seem to be getting any better. I tried several different types of baby lotions (all made by Johnson & Johnson), and they actually seemed to make baby J’s skin worse. An acquaintance on a Facebook mommy’s support group suggested olive oil. Well, it didn’t really help, and then my son just smelled like salad. While browsing through my local CD store, Diaper Junction, I found the CJ’s BUTTer lotion in the 4 oz. squeeze tube.

I purchased the “Lullaby Baby Lotion” scent to try on my son. When I first applied the lotion, the scent was very strong, and I wasn’t sure I liked it. Fortunately, the scent seems to dissipate quickly, leaving a minimal smell that is actually quite good. After just one application of this lotion on his legs and arms, and I could already tell a difference! After three applications, his dry skin was gone, and his skin was silky and smooth! If you or your children suffer from sensitive skin, consider giving this lotion a try. I will definitely keep using this on my son.

The CJ’s Unique Boutique Web site labels this lotion as being called “‘A Miracle in a Tube’ by some,” and lists several conditions they’ve known their products to help:

  • ezcema
  • rashes
  • dry/chapped skin
  • rug burns
  • hang nails

They also suggest using a small amount of their product as a leave-in conditioner or detangler for certain hair types. These are just a few of their recommendations.

Listed Ingredients:

  • Colloidal Oatmeal (active ingredient/skin protectant)
  • Shea butter
  • Olive oil
  • Coconut oil
  • Beeswax
  • Cocoa butter
  • Lanolin
  • Vitamin E
  • Fragrance

  1. I’m glad you posted this. We were just at the pediatrician’s office today with our little guy, and he’s dry all over (the baby, not the doctor :))… anyways, everything the doctor suggested, we had already tried, and none of it worked. Some made his skin even worse (I’m looking at you, Aveeno) so I was going to try coconut or palm oil… but I think I’ll give this a go first. Thanks!
